Love Island's Jacques O'Neill has sparked concern after being rushed to hospital following an injury.

The 23 year old ex-professional rugby player took to Instagram to let his 1.3million followers that the New Year hadn't got off to the best start for him as he showed off his leg and foot encased in a medical boot.

He could be seen sitting on the sofa with his leg propped up on a table and some crutches strewn beside him as he rested up.

Over the Instagram story snap, Jacques wrote: “Was hoping for a better 2023, but starting the year with a fractured foot.

He added: "Head's gone,” in a further indication to how he was feeling.

Jacques hasn't revealed how he sustained the injury.

Jacques found fame on the 2022 series of Love Island, in which he embarked on a relationship with fellow contestant Paige Thorne before sensationally quitting the show due to mental health issues.

Jacques faced controversy after the Casa Amor phase of the show, whilst coupled up with Paige, where he kissed a number of girls, before choosing to stay coupled up with Paige.

In true Love Island style, Paige was quickly made aware of the infidelities, and Jacques was left grovelling for forgiveness, before the arrival of Adam Collard, who went straight for Paige, spooked Jacques and he left the show.

After leaving the villa, Jacques told The Sun that going on Love Island was “the worst decision of my life”.

He told the publication: “I was ready to break down.

“I was feeling so mentally drained, I just wanted to go home and get myself right. It broke me and I was already broken. I was crying my eyes out. I couldn’t cope."

Jacques, who was diagnosed with ADHD as a child, has since revealed that his mental health became even worse after leaving the show, leaving him in therapy.

In an exclusive chat with OK! Magazine, the star said he "struggled more than ever," post-Love Island.

Speaking on his Love Island experience, he told us: “I struggled when I got out, I’ve got to be honest, the most I’ve ever struggled in my life.

“Before the villa, I looked to myself as a tough character and always had to be tough for the household with my mum being a single parent so I couldn’t really show emotion, but in the villa I really broke down and then afterwards it was really…

“If I am going to give any advice it’s just to tell the truth and speak out because, I’ve realised when I don’t speak, and I don’t say the truth and say ‘I’m fine, I’m fine’, it makes me even worse.”
