Justin Bieber has looked back on his arrest in 2014 admitting he’s ‘not proud’ of where he was in his life.
During a trip to Miami, the Sorry hitmaker was charged with drunken driving, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license. He was released on a $2,500 (£1,505) bond.
Sharing a photo of the arrest, Bieber wrote on Instagram: ‘7 years ago today I was arrested, not my finest hour.
‘Not proud of where I was at in my life. I was hurting, unhappy, confused, angry, mislead, misunderstood and angry at god.. I also wore too much leather for someone in Miami.
‘All this to say God has brought me a long way. From then til now I do realize something.. God was as close to me then as he is right now. My encouragement to you is to ‘let your past be a reminder of how far god has brought you.
‘Don’t allow shame to ruin your “today” let the forgiveness of Jesus take over and watch your life blossom into all that God has designed you to be. LOVE YOU GUYS WITH MY WHOLE HEART.’
Bieber was arrested in January 2014 after police spotted him racing in Miami.
His case was later settled with a plea bargain. Bieber pleaded guilty to resisting an officer without violence and a lesser charge of driving without due care and attention.
He was fined $500 (£365) and sentenced to attend a 12-hour anger management course and a program that teaches the impact of drunken driving on victims. He also donated $50,000 (£30,000) to Our Kids, a local children’s charity.
In recent years, Bieber appears to have stayed out of trouble, settling down with his wife, Hailey Baldwin.
As of late, they seem to have been thinking about starting a family, with Justin admitting he wants as many kids as possible.
The Canadian singer, 26, explained during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show: ‘I’m going to have as many [kids] as Hailey is willing to push out.
‘I’d love to have myself a little tribe, but it’s her body and whatever she wants to do. I think she wants to have a few.’
When Ellen asked what the ‘hold up’ was, Justin added: ‘I think Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman, I don’t think she’s ready yet and I think that’s OK.’
