Jennifer Hudson‘s custody battle is escalating.
The “Dreamgirls” star and her former fiancé, David Otunga, are heading to trial to battle for custody of their 9-year-old son, David Daniel Otunga Jr. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, an Illinois judge set the start of the trial for March 11, where “The Voice” judge will face off against Otunga in court.
The judge on the trial expects the case to last five days. They’ll both testify in court and argue their case for who deserves more custody and who should pay support.
In November 2017, Hudson filed for a restraining order against Otunga after their 10-year relationship ended because she claimed he had exhibited “aggressive, threatening and harassing behavior” toward her.
“Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga have been in the process of ending their relationship for a number of months,” Hudson’s rep told Page Six at the time. “Yesterday, Jennifer requested and received a protective order against her ex-fiancé. Jennifer’s actions are solely taken in the best interest of their son. Please respect her privacy at this time.”
She later dropped the order of protection, but their feud only continued to worsen after the Oscar winner violated a gag order Otunga had received against her. He requested she be held in contempt of court and sought sanctions.
