Former Coronation Street star and mum of three Helen Flanagan has opened up on social media about her decision to stop breastfeeding after a “challenging few weeks”.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the 31 year old posted a weary-looking image of herself breastfeeding son Charlie, one, with her daughter Delilah in the background.

She said: "I've decided to stop feeding. I've really enjoyed nursing Charlie but the past month I've just had enough.

"Today was the first day I'm trying to gradually wean him off during the day (he feeds too much).

She continued: “I love being a mum and I'm so grateful for my babies, but I've just felt so drained so making some changes."

Helen went on to share that she was planning on getting childcare to help out with her children.

She wrote: "Found the past weeks quite challenging with mum life. I think it's quite good to be honest as we see such perfect images of motherhood on social media.

"I've never had any childcare for Charlie but I've decided to get some week. To help him eat more and get off the boob. It's just different stages and they will pass.”

Helen, who played Rosie Webster on and off for 18 years on Coronation Street, shares three children with fiancé, footballer Scott Sinclair, 33.

They have daughters Matilda, six, Delilah, three, and son Charlie, one.

Helen also posted some proud snaps of Charlie, saying: “So I’ve managed to not breastfeed Charlie so far all day apart from this morning,

“Been distracting him with food and I’m trying my best to get him to take a bottle of water, usually he uses me as a drink”.

She spent a wholesome Sunday with her three children, taking them to a nearby pool for a swim.

Later, she posted a sweet snap wearing a veil with her eldest child Matilda, admitting that she felt like she had been a “stressy mum recently” and she had “forgot to be a bit fun”.

She and her daughter “played weddings before bed” which she said was Matilda’s “fave".

The family recently enjoyed a sun-soaked holiday in Dubai, where they stayed at luxury resort Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa.

The couple made sure to get some child-free time in, with Helen posting a loved-up snap of the pair saying “mum and dad off duty”.
