19th March 2023

Gemma Collins has said she stopped getting filler after her mum made a comment about it.

The former TOWIE star, 42, haspreviously been open about her cosmetic proceduresand "tweakments".

However, she said she decided to ditch some of her treatments after her parents talked to her about it and said she looked “weird”.

The GC sat down with her mum Joan, 67, to discuss their relationship, where she discussed her past beauty treatments.

Gemma said: “Mum always told me that it’s not about the size of your waist, boobs or lips, at the end of the day it comes down to your personality."

She continued to The Sun: “I’ve had lip fillers and a bit of this and that and my mum has said, ‘Gemma, me and your father don’t recognise you, you look weird’.

“So she’ll always tell me the truth and she’s right. Just be yourself."

While her parents generally remain entirely out of the limelight, Joan did feature in the fifth series of The Only Way Is Essex, which aired back in 2012. She and Gemma’s dad Alan also briefly appeared in Gemma's ITVBe series, Diva Forever.

More recently, Joan joined Gemma in heartbreaking scenes as the star spoke about her struggle with self-harm in Gemma Collins: Self Harm and Me.

It comes as the star revealed that she’s thinking of leaving her long-time home in Essex to relocate to Surrey.

Although she found fame appearing on The Only Way Is Essex, in a new chat with OK!, the star revealed it might be time for her to move on from her stomping ground.

She told us: "At the moment, though, I’ve got my eye on moving to Surrey. Sam Faiers lives there. I do feel like I’ve totally outgrown Essex.”

Back in October last year, Gemma was on the hunt for a second property after "outgrowing" her Essex mansion.

The star said "there are animals everywhere, there are people everywhere" in her sprawling mansion, and she will need another house soon due to "growing out" of her current home.

Gemma also told us she currently wants to "protect her energy" as much as possible and doesn't want any negativity surrounding her.

"Where I live now is very different to TOWIE," the star explained. "Now, I don’t really see many people and I’m particular about who I have around me.

"I protect my energy, honey. Humans are not always nice and there are very strange people in the world. And I don’t want to be around them and have any negativity. I have to protect myself and my body as much as I can.”
