Sir Elton John has tested positive for COVID-19 and as a result, has sadly been forced to cancel two of his concerts in Dallas, Texas.
The 74 year old singer has been fully vaccinated and has also had the booster jab.
Thankfully, the star, who is married to husband David Furnish and shared a rare insight into their Christmas with sons Zachary, 10, and Elijah, eight, a month ago, is only suffering from mild virus symptoms so far.
The news was announced that the Your Song hitmaker unfortunately had to make the tough decision on Tuesday, January 25, with one of the shows scheduled to take place that night.
A statement from the singer’s reps said: “It is with great regret that the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour dates in Dallas set for Tuesday, January 25 and Wednesday, January 26 must be postponed due to Elton recently testing positive for COVID-19.
“Fortunately, Elton is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is experiencing only mild symptoms."
Concert-goers were also informed that anyone who had already purchased tickets would have the chance to reschedule their chosen date in the future.
The statement continued: “Fans should hold on to their tickets as they will be honoured at the rescheduled dates to be announced soon.
“Elton and the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour look forward to returning to the stage shortly,” the announcement added.
It comes after Sir Elton’s latest tour had already been postponed once before.
The star was forced to put his shows on hold when the coronavirus first took hold back in March 2020.
19 dates were pushed back due to the pandemic and The Lion King musician had been looking forward to getting back on the road with his band.
