Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan, 56, has revealed the secret to her svelte figure following her first in-studio appearance at the ITV set in months. The TV personality spoke openly about the one lifestyle change she has made which enabled her to shed the pounds and lead a healthier life.

Speaking to her fellow panelists Janet Street Porter, Ruth Langsford and Brenda Edwards, Coleen revealed that her sisters’ health battles inspired her to overhaul her lifestyle.

Nolan sisters Linda, 62 and Anne, 70, recently revealed that they were diagnosed with cancer on the same day, after the family lost sister Bernie to the disease eight years ago.

While Anne has now been given the all-clear, Linda was told she has incurable breast cancer, which has spread to her liver.

Coleen put her dramatic weight loss down to her new vegan diet, citing her sisters’ battles with cancer as the wake-up call she needed to inspire a healthy lifestyle.

Speaking about her weight, she said: “[I’ve] never weighed myself. The weight comes off.

“What I’m bothered about is I feel so much better.

“Yeah, best I’ve felt for years. My main reason for doing it is, as you know, my sister [Linda] has been re-diagnosed with cancer.”

Coleen added: “I’ve got to do this now.”

However, panelist Janet quickly jumped into the discussion.

“You’re eating a vegan diet, but that’s not going to, God forbid, stop you from getting cancer,” she said.

Coleen hit back: “That’s not for me to say.

“I would suggest that you watch the programmes.”

Janet continued: “I just think that the most important thing is that you like what you’re eating and you’re eating in moderation.”

Coleen then admitted that when she first started her vegan diet, she struggled because she couldn’t eat chocolate anymore.

However, she revealed her body learnt to adjust.

She said: “I’ve got used to it. I’ve changed my taste buds.

“Now I’m eating to live rather than living to eat.”

In Linda and Anne’s new book, Stronger Together, the former revealed that she found out that her incurable cancer had spread to her liver, 30 minutes after hearing the devastating news that her sister Anne had found a lump in her breast.

Linda was first diagnosed with cancer in 2006, while Anne was told of her diagnosis six years earlier.

They both learnt that their cancers had returned after filming The Nolans Go Cruising last spring.
