The ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ alum takes to her Instagram account to slam the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, noting that the car chase doesn’t have to be so ‘drastic.’
AceShowbiz –Bethenny Frankel weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s headline-making car chase with paparazzi. “The Real Housewives of New York City” alum criticized the royal couple, noting that it didn’t have to be so “drastic.”
In an Instagram video shared on Friday, May 19, Bethenny slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for driving to a friend’s “really private” address on the Upper East Side after attending the Women of Vision Awards on Tuesday instead of staying at a hotel. “If you … don’t want people to know [where you’re going], stay at a hotel,” she said.
The former Bravo personality added, “If you know it’s going to be so incredibly horrible and the chase is so dangerous, slow down, stop the car, get out, go to a restaurant, take a break and wait it out.”
The 52-year-old went on to point out that she has “never heard of Taylor Swift or [Beyonce Knowles] or [Jennifer Lopez] or mega, mega, mega stars like Justin Bieber or Harry Styles” having similar experiences with paparazzi. “What’s going on?” she asked. “Is [sic] Mr. Magoo and Elmo who their publicist is? Someone control the beast.”
Not stopping there, the Skinnygirl founder also accused Meghan and Harry of “alienating” their fan base by demanding a photo agency to “turn over the footage” of the car chase. “Just stop,” she added. “Sometimes you get too far in and don’t know which way to go. They’re swimming halfway between Cuba and Florida, and they don’t know whether to go back or keep swimming. So they just keep swimming, and we hope they don’t drown.”
Concluding her video, the businesswoman advised Meghan to consider an idea of joining a “Real Housewives” franchise. “Just be a ‘Housewife,’ lean in, be infamous because it’s not going that great,” she said.
A New York City law enforcement source apparently echoed Bethenny’s sentiment. “They should have just gotten a hotel for the safety of everyone. Instead, they were cheap and wanted a free place to stay,” the source told Page Six.
“Harry and Meghan’s people called the Carlyle ahead of the trip and asked for a discounted room, and the hotel said no,” the insider noted. “If they had just paid up and got a hotel in the first place, this supposed ‘dangerous’ paparazzi chase around town would never have happened. They would have been driven back to the Carlyle, been photographed going inside and that would have been the end of it.”
