Coronavirus: Anton du Beke says time with children is ‘wonderful’

Anton Du Beke’s wife has reportedly objected to his chosen moniker for their young daughter. The Strictly Come Dancing professional and his spouse Hannah Summers welcomed twins in March 2017.

I can’t not, because I love it so much

The birth of the couple’s offspring George and Henrietta, now three, was confirmed on Instagram at the time.

The dancer has now opened up on his disagreement with his other half during a chat on podcast, Life and Soul by Emma Forbes.

The 54-year-old claimed he is “going to be that dad” when his twins grow up.

Anton stated that he is unable to get out of the habit of calling his little girl Ra-ra, following in the footsteps of her brother.

Presenter Emma, 55, questioned the BBC favourite on life at home and if they were likely to follow in his footsteps.

She asked: “I’m presuming you and your gorgeous wife, I mean, I have this vision – I live in America and there’s Julianne and Derek Hough, brother and sister dancing team.

“You very cleverly, you both created – you’ve got a little dance duo there. They could be…”

“Oh they’re doing trememdously,” Anton quickly stated. “George, although they’re twins, is slightly bigger than Henrietta.”

It was then that he explained that he didn’t use her full name behind the scenes.

He continued: “I call her Ra-ra. George couldn’t say [Henrietta], so used to call her Ra-ra.

“Hannah, my wife, says, ‘You can’t call her Ra-ra – it’s ridiculous’.”

However, Anton recalled: “And I said, ‘I can’t not, because I love it so much’. And she will be forever called Ra-ra.

“It’s going to be a nightmare. I’m going to be that dad.”

Emma urged: “But you have to be that dad”

She also queried: “Are they in intensive training in COVID or are they just allowed to do it when they like to for their dance routines?

“Where are they? Are we on the Tango? The Salsa?”

Anton jokingly added: “Oh we do an hour of barre every morning. And then we go into full, sort of technical ballroom dancing.”

The star very much keeps his private life away from the cameras, rarely posting about the twins online.

His last snap of them, which saw the pair kissing his cheeks, in front of his 242,000 Instagram followers was shared in the summer.

He captioned it simply: “‘Happy Birthday, Daddy!'”
