The One Show host Alex Jones, 43, has humbly dismissed the suggestion that she is a “national treasure” while sharing details about her exciting new move away from the BBC programme.
The presenter shared a post from Cookalong TV’s official Twitter page, which announced she would be preparing an Italian dish from her home in an online show for charity.
The post read: “National treasure @MissAlexjones will be hosting another of our first #cookalongs.
“She’ll be cooking up an Italian classic in aid of @actnforchildren. Add your email at http://cookalong.tv to find out more.”
While encouraging her 238,000 Twitter followers to sign up for email updates about the cooking event, Alex candidly admitted she wasn’t sure if she was “qualified” to earn the “national treasure” title.
She tweeted: “Don’t think I qualify for national treasure, but yes, email for more details.”
However, fans were quick to disagree with Alex’s modest statement and insisted she is loved by the nation.
One person replied: “Yep you’re a national treasure, in my opinion, I reckon you’re probably the same off set as you are on it.”(sic)
Another added: “You do! You’ve been an absolute god send amongst all the craziness x.”
A third fan commented: “I think many will disagree with you on not being a national treasure.”
A fourth Twitter user quipped in reference to Alex’s recent stint on The Great Celebrity Bake Off: “Are your cooking skills up there with your baking skills?” alongside a winking face emoji.
