Alec Baldwin’s, 63, wife Hilaria, fears that her husband will develop PTSD after the accidental shooting of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, on the set of his new film Rust earlier this month. Halyna tragically died after she was shot with a loaded prop gun that also left director Joel Souza injured and needing emergency hospital treatment.

The actor had been filming the Western at a 2,000-acre ranch in New Mexico last week when the gun accidentally fired real bullets.

Since the tragic incident, Hilaria has revealed she is trying her best to limit Alec’s PTSD.

Speaking to the New York Post, she said the pair have taken a trip to Vermont for space.

“I brought Alec up here because we have to mourn Halyna’s death,” she admitted.

“Alec had a really traumatic thing happen, and I am trying to limit the PTSD.”

She went on: “You look at what happens to soldiers and police officers when something like this happens, it’s traumatic.

“We just came up here for quiet.”

Hilaria also confessed that Alec “feels awful” following the death of Halyna, amid reports that he will be taking some time away from Hollywood.

She continued: “He needs space for me to take care of him and his mental health.

“It’s an awful thing that happened. Alec feels awful.”

The pair also stopped to speak to reporters on a roadside in Vermont over the weekend, where Alec spoke publicly for the first time since his friend’s death.

“We were a very, very well-oiled crew shooting a film together and then this horrible event happened,” he said.

“A woman died. She was my friend.

“The day I arrived in Santa Fe to start shooting I took her to dinner with Joel the director.”

He also revealed that he has been in constant contact with Halyna’s family since her death.

“I met with her husband Matthew and her son. The guy is overwhelmed with grief,” Alec said.

“It’s something that… there are incidental accidents on film sets from time to time, but nothing like this.”

He went on to explain it was a “one in a trillion event”.

Alec previously released a statement as Hollywood reeled from the news of the devastating accident.

He wrote: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.

“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.

“My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”
