A Place in the Sun: Buyer calls Scarlette Douglas 'naughty'
Scarlette Douglas, who is best known for presenting A Place In The Sun, made her Channel 4 debut in 2015. The property expert revealed that before she began hosting on the television programme she had plans to pursue a career in musical theatre.
The 32-year-old explained it was her eldest brother and former footballer Stuart Douglas who encouraged her to invest in property.
The Channel 4 presenter said her sibling warned her to think about retirement funds.
Scarlette explained: “It was my brother that got me involved [in property] in the first place.
“When I was 24 or 25 he pretty much said, ‘You need to think about your pension.'”

She continued: “I did musical theatre – I was a singer and dancer – but I’d never taken out a pension.
“I should’ve taken out an equity pension but I never did.
“So he was the one that said, ‘Look, I’m going to help you and show you the ropes of property development and how you can make money by flipping properties and renting properties.'”
From her experience buying property, Scarlette later secured a role on A Place In The Sun.
The presenter credited I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for helping the presenter achieve her television dream.
After appearing in a vast array of stage performances including the X Factor West End musical, the star decided to make the switch from musical theatre to television presenting.
Scarlette revealed she took part in Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and joined the duo as a dancer on their UK arena tour.
The presenter later went back to her agent and applied for a position to host A Place In The Sun.

Scarlette explained: “I went on tour with Ant and Dec as a backing dancer on their Saturday Night Takeaway show.
“I did their arena tour and it was them that kind of said to me [to do presenting].”
She continued: “We all went out one night and I got the courage to say, ‘Do you mind if I interview you?’
“And they both said, ‘Yes, absolutely come in early tomorrow.’
“So I interviewed them the next day and they were brilliant.”
Scarlette added: “And they said, ‘If this is what you want to do you should focus on it. You should really do it.’ So they got me a few meetings.
“It was their management that gave me a lot of advice and tips.”
The holiday property expert explained: “I did my screen test and about 10 days after that I found out that I got the job on A Place In The Sun.”
A Place In The Sun airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 3pm.
