Oh, that sinking feeling!
Heartsick homeowners in Seaford, LI, say backyards are caving in, driveways are buckling and garages are on the brink of collapse.
The residents are dropping thousands of dollars to deal with the “ongoing” safety problem but their calls for help are akin to one hand clapping.
“I love my home. I don’t want to move, I have too many memories!” declared a downcast Elma Hasi.
Hasi, 75, said she’s spent more than $50,000 since 2004 to demolish and rebuild her garage, steps and driveway, “which completely cracked.”
Neighbor Marianne Miller said “there’s a history of sinking ground in the backyards.”
“Could my pool cave in? What’s going on? We never get any answers,” she said.
“We’re angry. Our taxes went up 152 percent this year. We don’t know what’s going on … The town knew there was a problem,” she said.
