Ackley Bridge’s most loved and authentic friendship looks set to be torn apart in devastating scenes as the drama picks up from the cliffhanger at the end of the shocking series three opener. After Nasreen Paracha (Amy Leigh Hickman) and Missy Booth (Poppy Lee Friar) patched up their fractured relationship after a fallout, they were looking to two very different but bright futures.
But out of nowhere, a speeding car may have snatched it away from them forever as it knocked them both down to the ground. As they fought for life, will they die after the terrible chain of events? And will the community of Ackley Bridge be changed forever?
The pair had been at odds since Nas questioned Missy’s decision to leave school and go travelling with the fair. Having been invited to an interview with Oxford University, Nas thought that Missy deserved better for herself and, feeling like her friend was judging her, Missy was left hurt.
Nas got a valuable wake up call and realised that she had been selfish and had hoped that everything would stay the same while she went to Oxford. But of course, nothing is now the same anymore as, moments after happily reaffirming the strength of the bond they have had since birth, the girls were knocked over.
This week, the pair fight for their lives – but will they make it through? Or is there no future now left for them? Kaneez and Simone anxiously wait for news on their daughters – and it remains to be seen if they will survive.
In other developments tonight, Sam recruits her cousins to seek revenge, and as the reaction rapidly escalates, a chasm opens between Ackley Bridge’s white and Asian communities with the school at the centre of the tensions. Mandy and her staff are left reeling when behaviour spirals out of control but can they manage the tensions?
Martin is tasked with mentoring cocky new PE teacher Hassan who’s more interested in being liked by the pupils than being an authority figur while Mandy also tries to tempt Emma back to Ackley Bridge College.
Ackley Bridge continues on Tuesday 25th June at 8pm on Channel 4.
