But 31-year-old Trinidadian centre-back John – obviously nicknamed Rocket Man – will hope to have the fans singing his name.
Newly-formed Canadian premier League side Wanderers will hope they are Still Standing at the end of the season after making their first ever foreign signings.
John – a one-cap Trinidad international – is joined by compatriots Jan-Michael Williams, Akeem Garcia and and Andre Rampersad.
The defender said: “I’m excited and happy for a new challenge.
“I’m ready to make the fans happy with the Wanderers and hoping they accept me as a player.”
Just seven teams will compete in this CPL's inaugural season, which is set to begin in April.
