Draxler restrained in tunnel by PSG team-mates while trying to confront referee as Mbappe slams official after 5-1 humiliation at Lille

FURIOUS Julian Draxler had to be held back by team-mates as he tried to confront the referee in the tunnel following Paris Saint-Germain's 5-1 humiliation at Lille.

Amazing footage shows the German being restrained by 6ft 4in keeper Alphonse Areola and another man as he blasts ref Benoit Bastian.

He can be heard shouting: "Why do we have VAR if you do not look? Explain that to me!"

Areola urges Draxler, 25, to "calm down" and ushers him away.

Moments earlier, a seething Kylian Mbappe – who had two goals ruled out for offside – had moaned: "This referee takes the Coupe de la Ligue from us, he takes our players from us, he takes everything."

PSG squandered the chance to win Ligue 1 for the second year in a row at the Stade Pierre Mauroy last night.

The French champions were embarrassed 5-1 by second-placed Lille, who dealt them their worst defeat in ten years.

Thomas Meunier scored an own goal to put the hosts ahead before Juan Bernat levelled.

Bernat was then sent off for a professional foul on Nicolas Pepe after 36 minutes.

Pepe, Jonathan Bamba, Gabriel and Jose Fonte all ran riot to humiliate PSG, while Mbappe saw two goals ruled out for offside.

PSG were fuming at Bastian's decision to send off Bernat and failure to review Mbappe's goals with VAR.

Boss Thomas Tuchel was incensed with Bastian in January after he awarded minnows Guingamp three penalties during PSG's 2-1 Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final loss.

And he was heard telling sporting director Antero Henrique in the tunnel: "It's the same referee as against Guingamp and the three penalties against us."

Club president Nasser Al Khelaifi complained: "We need to raise the level of French football! We need to raise the level of French football!"
