Next, Dr. Derek explained why you should avoid sticky sweets.

He added: “Three – sticky, sugary candies, like caramel gummies.

“Super bad for your teeth because not only is there sugar, but once you bite into it, it actually sticks onto your teeth and can stay there for hours. Causes cavities guys.”

Dr. Derek then advised why you should avoid corn nuts and too much citrus fruit, as he shared: “Number four – corn nuts.

“The size and how hard they are are notorious for breaking teeth. Vertical refracture anyone?

“Number five – excessively eating lemons or citrus fruit is really bad for your teeth because it can wear away your enamel.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @paste.dental, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 14,500 views.

Social media users were left stunned at Derek’s claims and many took to the comments to express this.

One person said: “Yikes!!!!”

Another added: “But I love lemon and balsamic vinegar on salad.”
