George Clooney hints Ocean’s sequel could be in the works as he reveals he has a ‘great script’ in his possession

George Clooney got Ocean’s fans hyped up this week after he hinted that a sequel could be on the way.

The 62-year-old star played Danny Ocean in the heist trilogy and teased that another picture could be in the pipeline as he possesses a ‘great script’.

George — who has been in NYC this week — led a star-studded ensemble cast that also featured Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon.

‘We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we could end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script,’ he told Uproxx.

Asked if the new movie would be titled Ocean’s Fourteen, Clooney replied: ‘Well… I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like “Going in Style.”‘

The Ocean’s franchise is already expanding with a prequel film that features Barbie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Danny Ocean’s parents – a move that has been given the seal of approval by Clooney.

‘Yeah! Margot Robbie is my mother? I’ve always thought that,’ he told the outlet.

‘Ryan Gosling is my father. Now, when you think about it, it makes sense. Truly.’

Producer Josey McNamara previously insisted that Margot and Ryan will ‘do right by’ the franchise – which originated from the 1960 Rat Pack flick Ocean’s 11 – and expressed his excitement at the duo sharing a screen again.

He told Games Radar: ‘They’re wonderful together. The more projects even outside of that we can have them do would be amazing.

‘I can’t really say much, but I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.’

The Ocean’s prequel has been in development since last year.

Director Jay Roach previously confirmed that it will be set in Monte Carlo in 1962 with the world-famous Monaco Grand Prix providing the backdrop.

Fans have long wondered about the possibility of Ocean’s Fourteen following the success of Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen.

And late last year, The Sun reported that Pitt – who famously plays Rusty Ryan – as well as Clooney and Damon had finally signed on.

‘Rumors of a film starring George, Brad and Matt have swirled for years but the timing was off and their jam-packed schedules meant that it was just not possible,’ a source explained to the outlet in September.

‘Finally the right team for the job has come together in a bid to make it a huge success and the main stars thought it would be good fun to revisit.’

The insider continued: ‘The franchise is hugely popular and the brilliant storyline was an opportunity that was too good to miss.’

Ocean’s 11 kicked off the franchise and is a reboot of the 1960 film of the same name.

It follows main character Danny Ocean (Clooney), a career thief who recruits ten accomplices to help him rob three Las Vegas casinos simultaneously, as per IMDB.

The film premiered on December 7, 2001 and went on to earn $450.7 million at the worldwide box-office.

Ocean’s Twelve (2004) raked in $362.9 million while Ocean’s Thirteen (2007) made $311.7 million.

The three films each boasted A-list casts that included the likes of Vincent Cassel, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Don Cheadle, Al Pacino and Bernie Mac.

When Mac suddenly passed away in 2008 from complications from pneumonia, plans for a fourth installment were put on what seemed to be an indefinite hold.

This month, Clooney has been focused on promoting his 10th directorial film The Boys in The Boat.
