The wife of Coronation Street star Simon Gregson had her nose broken in a horror attack as she tried to protect her brother from a gang of yobs.
Emma Gleave, who is married to the Steve McDonald actor, was on a night out with her brother, who has learning difficulties, when a group started picking on him.
Mum-of-three Emma, 35, tried to stop them when one of the men punched her in the face.
She’s said to have suffered a broken nose and to have been taken to hospital.
It’s reported that she’s now at home recovering.
A source told The Sun : "Emma has always been hugely protective of her brother. The two of them had done nothing wrong when this awful man started goading him.
"Emma wasn’t prepared to let that happen and tried to defuse the situation – but the next second she was punched in the face and left in a lot of pain with a bloody nose.
"What sort of bloke punches a woman? Simon was furious. If he got his hands on this bloke, God knows what would happen."
The insider added however that Emma is his "first concern".
The assault, which happened last week, comes one year after Simon, 44, revealed their heartbreak over losing 12 babies to miscarriage.
Surgeons saved Emma’s life in 2017 after she had an ectopic pregnancy, where an egg implants outside the womb.
The couple, who live in Cheshire, have three children – Alfie, 11, Harry, nine, and Henry, three.
One of Simon’s storyline character saw Steve and on-screen partner Michelle, played by Kym Marsh, lose their baby to stillbirth.
The storyline was deeply personal for both Simon and Kym, who lost her son Archie 10 years ago, when he died just minutes after being born.
ITV did not want to comment when contacted by Mirror Online.
