In typical Black Mirror fashion, fans were left in the dark about the intimate details of the ‘choose your own adventure’ episode and how it will pan out for viewers.

Bloomsberg reported in October that writer Charlie Brooker and Netflix had planned to take Black Mirror in a different direction and allow fans to choose the endings.

Indie Wire seemed to back the long-running theory as the website made claims there is five hours worth of footage for the Bandersnatch episode.

Storytelling: Bandersnatch tells the story Stefan descending into insanity after he builds a game based on a book written by Jerome F. Davies who went mad and murdered his wife

Hardcore fans rushed to social media to speculate on how fans will be able to interact to change the story lines.

One fan asserted: ‘It’s going to be a “choose your own adventure” programme, most votes chooses what is shown next. Will likely be a live vote so can’t be shown in the same format again.’

Another countered: ‘Not exactly what I heard but along the lines of “choose your own adventure” TV programme certainly. Not sure how live voting would work for a streaming platform? What I do know is that Netflix updated their entire back system to accommodate this concept. It’s going to be big.’

The fan responded: ‘Aah think we’ve heard versions of the same story. Definitely going to be put Netflix on top if it works.’

To which, the other responded: ‘What I have read is that it’s a 1hr 30min film that is a choose your own adventure and there has been 360 minutes of footage recorded so pretty expansive!’

The voice over says: ‘You’re not hearing voices… No voices but there is something…Bandersnatch was the final straw.

‘I keep having these vivid dreams, like thinking weird things.’
