Kim Kardashian Just Posted A No-Makeup Selfie Showing What Her Psoriasis Really Looks Like

Kim Kardashian West likes to keep it real when it comes to her struggle with psoriasis, an autoimmune disease that causes itchy, dry scales to form on a person’s skin. The megastar hasn’t been shy to post pics of it on her body.

Last night, she posted an Instagram Story of her makeup-free face covered with psoriasis flare-ups. Known for her all-out glam looks, the beauty mogul showed a no-makeup side of herself that fans don’t often get to see.

Kardashian West’s face flare ups are a fairly new thing for her. In early January, she let her fans know that her psoriasis was spreading. “Wait, why am I now getting psoriasis on my face,” Kardashian West tweeted.

Leave it to Kim to have a positive attitude about it though. “After this many years, I’ve really learned to live with it,” Kim said on her website in late 2016. “I don’t even really try to cover it that much anymore. Sometimes I just feel like it’s my big flaw and everyone knows about it, so why cover it?”

Psoriasis is a fairly common skin issue. In fact, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), about 7.5 million Americans have it. It happens when a person’s immune system sends faulty signals that tell skin cells to grow too quickly. When those cells overproduce, they pile up, causing patches on a person’s skin.
